Your first SIP account appears in your My CommPeak portal automatically after signup, and you can add more later. In the following sections, we explain how to modify SIP account settings according to your needs.
Resetting Password
You need to reset the password for your SIP account:
- to create a permanent password for your first SIP account
- after you switch from IP-based to password-based authentication to create a permanent password
- when you forget your current password
To reset the SIP account password:
- Expand VoIP Services in the left pane.
- Click the SIP Accounts tab.
- On the SIP Accounts page, find the necessary account and click RESET PASSWORD:
- After you click PROCEED, the system will send you an email with a reset link.
- Click on the link, enter a new password, confirm it, and click SAVE NEW PASSWORD.
Modifying Username
The system will generate a username for your first SIP account. You can change it later and do the same for any other SIP account.
NOTE
You need to specify the SIP account username and password in the softphone configuration to start making calls.
To modify the SIP account username:
- Expand VoIP Services in the left pane.
- Click the SIP Accounts tab.
- Click Edit for the SIP account you wish to modify.
- On the Edit SIP Account page that opens, scroll down to the AUTHENTICATION section. Leave the toggle on Password authentication and enter your new username (eight characters or longer).
Optionally, you can add extra authentication with an IP ACL (access control list) - specify one or more IPs from which you can access the SIP account with these credentials. - Click SAVE CHANGES.
Increasing Channel Limit
You get one channel for outbound calls after signup:
It is the limit for your entire account. The limit increases after your trial ends and you become a paying customer. If you need more channels, open a support ticket.
Setting Caller ID
For your first SIP account, the default Caller ID is the phone number you entered on registration. Later, you can change it to a different number, set a name to be displayed instead, hide the Caller ID from the recipient, or create a dynamic Caller ID.
You can find detailed explanations and steps for creating and editing Caller ID rules in this article.
IMPORTANT
Changing Caller ID is not available for trial accounts. You are limited to the phone number you have used for CommPeak signup. To use other numbers for calling, please first top up your account.
In the Caller ID section, you can:
- View the list of Caller ID rules set up for this SIP account.
- Activate or deactivate a previously created Caller ID rule by using the toggle on the respective line.
- Edit Caller ID rules. To do this, click the edit button
on the needed line.
- Create new Caller ID rules. Click the CREATE NEW RULE button on the right of the table.
Changing Authentication Settings
You can switch from the default password to IP-based authentication. Refer to a separate article about SIP Account Authentication.
